Twelve minutes of Jo, showing the same JavaScript web app code running on webOS, iPhone, iPad, Android, Symbian and… Dashboard widgets? Yup. First in a series of videos, this screencast is a quick intro to the cross-platform capabilities of this JavaScript framework (both for mobile apps with PhoneGap and mobile web apps). Followup videos will cover making your first Jo app, getting it running with PhoneGap, theming it with CSS and other goodies. Enjoy!
You can also read more about this open source project at joapp.com.
Amazing work, following you on github, waiting for new developments!
Awesome, thanks! Feel free to pitch in, there’s always stuff do to…
Wow, this is awesome!
So sad that Android 2.1 seems to be slower than the other emulators.
I didn’t get the name of the new PhoneGap (forked?) framework which is capable of catching UI events like the back event.
Is it “JoyGap”? You mention it at 6:40:
DriodGap, sorry that my voice dipped out a little in the video. DroidGap seems to be a part of the PhoneGap for Android, unless I’m reading it wrong:

I need to dig a little deeper into this. My todo list keeps growing.
Is there any chance that the source of the traffic app demo will be released as example code?
Yes, I’ll be releasing it after I add some proper comments. I’m doing a screencast walkthru for the code as well, which may be useful. Should be out later this week.
just want to ask again about the walkthrough , there still so many questions i’m kinda stuck at a point and the source would help me a lot.
anyway, love everything about Jo until now
Is joApp still a living project?
I keep on scanning your documentation and cannot find a solution to include a map as it is on your video. Can you show the source for that (or similar) project?
Yours Miklos
Hello,
really promising. congratulations. can’t wait to have a look at the traffic app source code.
Great & Thank you
so, i’ve made a little french tuto about Jo on my blog : http://www.k33g.org/?q=node/50
Very cool, I’ll post a link. Thanks!
Hey Dave. Looking into using Jo for the first time and saw your comment at 1:00 about Jo’s file size – Is it possible to deliver gzipped javascript files to all devices? The stuff I want to do is heavy graphics wise.
